At Advertising Week, eMedia Vitals reported a conclusion from GCA Savvian Advisors managing director Terence Kawaja that Social Media is is already mobile. “If you figure out a social media presence, you have a head start on your mobile presence,” said Kawaja.
The web-analytics firm Compete released some interesting data this week that supports Kawaja’s statement.
Smartphone owners prefer personal and social applications to business applications, and Facebook is the most frequently accessed social site among smartphone owners, Compete’s analysis shows.
The app usage goes to the heart of Kawaja’s observation: if you are sharing content with a network of followers on Facebook, you’re intersecting with the core of their online app usage on their phone.
